Bethany | Custom Greeting Cards

Happy Wednesday, everyone. I'm writing this blog post outside under a bit of shade with the most lovely early-summer, North Carolina breeze. I'm so thankful for time today to sit and enjoy a few quiet moments, and I'm also really pumped to share one of my latest projects with you all. I created these custom greeting cards for one of my very best friends, Bethany Fletcher. Bethany and I met in 2011 when we lived together for an 8-week summer project with Athletes in Action. We became quick friends through AIA's X-Project, and I am so thankful to have her now as a lifelong friend and sister in Christ (I am also thankful that she understands my introverted-tendencies, my love for sushi/Mexican food/monster mix, and the absolute necessity of a good Netflix binge or movie night marathon) . I am always honored when close friends ask me to create for them. Bethany is on staff with the Athletes in Action ministry, and she lives and works in Boston. This project was extra special to me because Bethany will use these cards to send out notes to her support team. I love creating custom paper goods, but I was truly overjoyed and humbled not just to design a few pretty flowers but to create an item that will be the conduit of many stories, prayers and praises of all God is doing through Bethany's life. He is using her mightily in Boston and all over the globe, and I am both honored and encouraged to learn from Bethany's life and her unyielding devotion to the Lord. If you're like Bethany and in need of any paper items with a personal touch, please let me know. I would love to work with you!

Salem | Business Card

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you all have had a great week. I am really excited to share this project with you all for a few reasons:

  1. For those of you who don't know me personally, I was running Jenna Jordan Design on top of a full time job. At the end of last month I was able to transition from my full time job to a part time position at Mercy Hill Church, and I really could not be more excited or thankful! I've been a communications associate at Mercy Hill for two weeks now, and I am blown away by how encouraging the experience has already been. I'm getting to work on design projects, social media (follow our Instagram!), and I'm even assisting our videographer soon, which I'm really excited about. I've learned a great deal in the past two weeks, and I'm thrilled to continue to learn and grow with such an incredible team to further the gospel in this city, the triad and throughout the nations. Working for Mercy Hill part time is also enabling me to devote more time to Jenna Jordan Design, which means I will get to do a lot more fun projects like the one you'll see below! In addition to wedding stationery, I'd love to design business cards, logos or anything else you may need for your business or just for fun, so please let me know if you'd like to collaborate!
  2. I'm also excited to share this project with you because of how much I love this client. I created this business card for my good friend Salem Carney, who is a design student at UNCG. I met Salem through our community group at church, and she is an incredibly talented woman who loves the Lord. God is already using Salem mightily while she is in school. I am constantly encouraged by her genuineness and her desire to share the gospel. She is an extremely caring person, and she has an uncanny ability to make everyone around her feel heard, special and loved. I also truly believe God is going to do great things through her when she graduates next spring, so I was super excited when she asked me to design these business cards for her.
  3. Lastly, I really enjoyed this project because it was my first time working with a letterpress printer. I love letterpress, but I'd never had the chance to try it out. So Salem, thank you for this chance! I ended up meeting an awesome girl through Mercy Hill that runs her own letterpress business called Printology Press (you should all go check it out and use Printology for all your cool projects!). Working with Printology was an awesome experience, and I will definitely be working with them again on future projects (including new business cards for myself, which should be coming soon!).

I love how these cards turned out for Salem. We used a super subtle watercolor wash on the front and then kept it classy and simple with the text. I think these business cards are a striking example of the "less is more" mantra. I hope this post can inspire you today to go out and try something new. I'm certainly so thankful I was able to dip my toes into the waters of the letterpress world...it's always refreshing to get a little wet :) TGIF!

Christa + Mason | Anniversary Prints

Most projects are special to me in some way. Whether I'm taking photos and a magical moment is captured on camera or I'm designing a wedding suite and a unique aspect of the couple manifests itself onto printed paper, there is always a detail that defines the experience and makes the project distinguished in my mind. This project was no different, though there is something about it that was extra special to me. A couple months ago my friend Christa contacted me because she wanted help creating custom prints to give to her husband Mason for their first wedding anniversary. She wanted one print with their wedding vows and 1-2 prints with the text from a blessing her dad wrote to them and performed at their reception. Christa envisioned these prints as part of a larger collage of framed pictures from their wedding, all serving to help them remember important details from their day and the promises and wishes for their marriage. I really can't imagine a more meaningful project to have the honor of working on and simply being a part of. The three images below are the final custom prints that were created for the Bednarcyzks. Their anniversary was yesterday (Happy anniversary guys!), and I have been so excited to share these with you all. It's hard to make out all the text from the images, so I want to share a few words from their wedding blessing with you:

"There is one more secret to a successful marriage. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 4:12, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." The secret to having a successful marriage is to first have a relationship with Jesus Christ and then let that relationship be at the center of your relationship as a couple. Having a real and personal relationship with Jesus will help you and enable you to do all these things we have been talking about. Each of you have your own personal relationships with God through Christ. Now as the two of you are becoming one, you will find ways to make Christ Lord in your new relationship of husband and wife. You must find ways to make room for the three of you, keeping the presence of Christ over you, with you and in your midst. When your relationship with Jesus is where it needs to be, your marriage will be stronger and all the rest of your relationships will be better." -Mark Key

Simply typing up Mason & Christa's vows and this wedding blessing from Christa's dad was such a wonderful reminder, as well as an incredible encouragement, to me. I hope those of you reading this post are as blessed by Mark Key's reminder of truth as much as I was when adorning his words with design. Christa, thank you so much for allowing me to play a small role in celebrating your first wedding anniversary. Cheers to many more years of a Christ-centered marriage!

Stephanie + Jordan | Save the Date

One of my very best friends is getting married, and I really could not be more excited about it. I met Stephanie my sophomore year in college at UNC, and she was (and still is) truly a Godsend. For those of you who know me well, you know that the start of my college career was pretty rough. I didn't have many friends, I struggled a lot with my self-confidence and my faith, and I felt depressed at times. Though I met Stephanie my sophomore year, it wasn't until my junior year that I found myself hanging out at her house with her and her roommates one night after Athletes in Action. I feel like a lot of people in college make their best friends their freshman year, but this was simply not my story. I'm not sure that Stephanie knew it at the time, but after I first met her I was resolved to make her my friend. I kept going back to Athletes in Action, and I kept going back to her house (ha), and my master plan prevailed. Stephanie quickly become a friend I both treasure and admire. She is an incredible listener, a faithful confidant, and someone who always pushes me to truth. She pursues the Lord with all that she is, and she always encourages me to do this same. There is truly no better quality in a friend. In addition, she is always up for an adventure. Some of my favorite moments with Stephanie have been on the road trips we've taken together. Unfortunately, I don't know if she can say the same, since I tend to get pretty cranky when we're traveling and we can't find a Chipotle. Nevertheless, I am so excited for her and her fiancé, Jordan. I cannot wait for their adventure to begin at their wedding this summer, and I am honored to be able to stand by their side as they begin to write their story together. I could not have picked a better husband for Stephanie than Jordan. However, I do have a few requirements for you Jordan: You must make sure to never run out of peanut butter; you must promise to make Stephanie laugh and cherish her laughter; and you must vow to laugh at my jokes as much as she does (now I will have two people laughing instead of just myself). I love you guys dearly...thank you for letting me design your save the dates!
